Kees van Berkel studied biology in Wageningen. He specialised in vegetation ecology, nature management and zoogeography. From 1985 onwards, he is working with the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality in the field of nature policy. He lives in the province of Drenthe.
Although he has a broad interest in the field of biology, his main interests are birds, mammals and flowering plants. Furthermore, he is developing and guiding nature tours abroad for Eco Tourist Services. These tours mainly go to eastern Europe, Russia, India and Sri Lanka. When confronted with the problems conservationists meet in their work in the countries he visits, he also undertakes efforts to support them with money and supplies.
He is a photographer too and focuses on making photos of landscapes, flowers, birds and mammals. He is also interested in the photography of local people while working in their landscape. |
