Jan van der Straten studied food technology at the Agriculture Polytechnic in 's Hertogenbosch. He was responsible for the management of sewage treatment in East Brabant for a period of ten years. The last twenty years he worked with the Province of Noord-Brabant; he is currently working there
on the prevention of soil pollution and the treatment of waste products. Jan has been active in the Koninklijke Natuurhistorische Vereniging, a leading Dutch naturestudy organisation, for a period of more than 25 years. He is in particular interested in landscapes, flora and funghi. During his
visits of nature areas in the Netherlands and abroad, he takes many pictures. Doing so, he has built up a substantial collection of nature slides. |
