Jan Nijendijk
Jan Nijendijk is an active nature photographer during a period of ten years. In 1993, the coordinator of the environmental centre in Harderwijk persuaded him to exhibit his pictures at the yearly culture happening "Kulting Harderwijk", which gives every inhabitant of the city the possibility to exhibit his or her cultural creations. Due to the positive reactions that day, he exhibited more often. He was asked to supply pictures for an environmental calender, brochures, and flyers. Later on, he started to exhibit his work together with a portrait photographer from Harderwijk. Jan Nijendijk is an autodidact photographer; his study in landscape architecture enables him to find the characteristic elements in the landscape. As a nature photographer today his heart belongs to the forest and moors, tomorrow to the open field, swamps and water. His favourite spots are close to home, for example the Veluwe and the Flevopolders. Landscapes and birds are preferred, but plants and mammals are also being photographed. It does not matter where you are, the rule is the same everywhere: weather conditions and light can give a landscape an extra attraction. Regarding meetings with animals, one simply has to be lucky. That is why his motto is: 'photograph today, tomorrow can be inferior!'
