Jaap van der Linden
Jaap van der Linden studied biology at Leiden University. His interest in biology started with birds, but during his study and his membership of a youth organisation for nature study
(NJN) this interest widened to mammals, insects - especially hoverflies (Syrphidae) - and plants. For the last ten years he has worked with the province of Noord-Brabant, currently at the Nature Section.
His main task is the development of a fieldwork regarding a monitoring system of plant species in the province. During his fieldwork he regularly makes pictures of more or less rare species and of landscapes in the province. These slides are registered at the Nature Section and are used for publications such as "De toestand van de Brabantse natuur 2000" (The state of the Brabant Nature 2000) and "Kennisinfrastructuur Programma Beheer in de provincie Noord-Brabant"(Knowledge infrastructure for Program Management in the province of Noord-Brabant). In his private collection Jaap has slides of plants, birds, and hoverflies in the Netherlands, whilst during his holiday trip to France, Spain and Greece he makes pictures in these countries.
