Hans Dekker
Hans Dekker visiting a heath land in Drenthe, the Netherlands
Hans Dekker is working with the Province of Drenthe in the field of nature conservation. He is a typical northern for already 43 years: The space and absence of noise in the province of Drenthe play a vital role for him. He prefers surprising landscapes, old cities and pure nature. His favourite destination outside the Netherlands, is Italy where nature and culture are often living in harmony with each other. France, which is nearer to the Netherlands, is also a preferred destination. His favourite landscapes include heath land, brook valleys, sea and mountains. Of course, also in the Netherlands he recognises attractive landscapes, particularly regarding photographing original landscapes, plants and animals. Hans is a specialist in orchids on which he has published substantially. Especially the ecology of this group has his full attention. During his rambles, he felt inspired by the power of nature which is needed when he writes articles on nature and landscape as a freelance journalist. He uses his own slides for these articles. Many of his slides are included in the Saxifraga Collection.
