Bart Vastenhouw Since my early childhood, my parents took me on long walks in forests and heaths. When I was fifteen I became a member of the Dutch Youth Association for Nature Study (N.J.N), where my interest in nature and ecology increased even more. At that time I still took pictures with black-and-white film, which I developed and printed in a darkroom. The current possibilities with digital equipment are fantastic and the combination of nature, landscape and photography still fascinates me very much. A couple of years ago, I joined the Saxifraga Foundation, a network of European nature photographers, whose aim is to stimulate and facilitate the conservation of European biodiversity..
