Theo Verstrael (born 1958) is educated as a biologist at the University of Leiden. He is especially interested in landscapes, vertebrates and butterflies. From his teens he enjoyed photography but not until 2007 was there sufficient time to start developing technique and composition. Using special huts to photograph wildlife at close range is something he fancies most.

Although nature is his major inspiration he also invests as a photographer at rock music gigs, thus combining his love for prog music with photography.

Theo works as director at Sovon Dutch Centre for Field Ornithology in Nijmegen and lives in Bennekom.
